Clients talk about their experiences of working with AOMi:
The reasons for action
In the department I joined, there was a huge backlog. It was a prime opportunity to establish control. Before then, backlogs were hidden. Once we put them into the system, the full reality hit, but at least we really knew what the situation was, where we needed to get to, and we could plan how to get there.
Dept Manager, EDS CS
People couldn’t see how active planning would work. They would say, "you just can’t know what will come in from day to day".
Dept Manager, EDS CS
Before we were collecting data in different ways in different areas. Not as proactive at forecasting at lower levels. Forecasting wasn’t done at team levels, where it could make a difference. Now we have tidy data that lets managers manage.

What did you do?
It took us a couple of hard months to get things back under control...We went from planning meetings every day to planning meetings on a weekly and then monthly basis. At first people were quite uncomfortable ... Team managers were always looking for excuses. But I kept reminding people that we had the backlog plan, and that we had to stick to it. It was amazing how people learned to manage from day to day, even if it was tough at times. Eventually we got to it.

How did it affect your people?
It gives them a bigger picture of where the overall team is. They are more ready to help each other across teams. It has helped with carrying out training because they can see when there is an opportunity to do that. And they can plan exactly what training is needed – based on observed productivity and team skills needs
Dept Manager, IFDS
I’m very glad that I have the tool because it makes the amount of work coming through and the amount of resource needed very transparent. I’ve got a completely objective measuring stick that I can use in discussion. If you haven’t got a good measuring stick, you have to be a very good manager and a very good diplomat to manage your way around issues.
Dept Manager, EDS Hungary
Workware has given us a greater focus on what we're doing day to day. Before it was finger in the air. Now it's more disciplined. Now we have greater delegating of responsibility. Team leaders themselves are taking responsibility.
Dept Manager, IFDS
Team leaders are now really thinking about performance and managing individual differences, coaching lower performers. It’s really moving.

What were the results?
Over the course of the year there have been various dips in the productivity due to new teams coming on board with Workware but overall there has been a 38% increase.
Dept Manager, IFDS
Our managers have a real sense of things dropping into place... We can now forecast very accurately how much work will come in, and we can now calculate what we can do. This really is adding significant value.
Nigel Adams, National Australia Bank
Basically if you look at the productivity results you'll see about a 25% increase over 12 months. AOM introduces a high degree of control to a site... We used to have about 15% difference between the productivity numbers for busy vs quiet days. Last month we had 2.5% difference on average. This stability reflects a state of control - and calm.

What about AOMi?
AOM 'does what it says on the tin'. They do things that genuinely pay back. The work they have done for me has had big paybacks in the order of 20% on two occasions. When they're finished, they leave the knowledge behind. The products are simple understandable, and help managers to manage. They do the piece of work, transfer the knowledge and then leave you to get on with it.
